  • Pool Fencing - keeping your family safe and smiling!

As with any fence, there is a variety of options to choose from when considering your spa or swimming pool fencing in terms of style and finish.

Concerning materials - you can use most materials as long as they are of a durable nature. We find aluminium pool fencing is popular because it ticks all the boxes, it’s versatile, well priced, comes in a range of colours and blends into your landscaping without being too obvious. Glass pool fencing is also very desirable – giving an elegant and unobtrusive feel to your enclosure.

Depending on your property style, landscaping, and any existing structures that you wish to match or complement – there will be a look, style and finish to suit your ideas for your pool fence.

Naturally though, the most important factor for pool fences is safety – ensuring the safety of your kids, and other people’s children, is paramount. We all want to make sure those summer days are full of fun and laughter - not potential incidents!

Swimming pool safety and enclosures are regulated by the Fencing of Swimming Pools Act 1987. The Act may also be subject to change, so we recommend discussing your project with us and also checking with the Auckland City Council for current regulations. The Council has an informative Guide to Swimming and Spa Pools that you can review. There are specific requirements for the structure, height, gates, etc. to inhibit children from gaining access via any method. You will require a Building Consent before you install a pool and its associated fences and gates.  The Council provide a comprehensive checklist covering all aspects required for lodgement of the Building Consent.  We will work alongside yourself and your pool contractor to get the best results for you.

  • The Auckland City Council also have a helpful short video as a starting point to understand the requirements - it's a useful resource to understand the need for safety and the purpose of the regulations.

Please also appreciate the Council will be inspecting your property - they have inspectors who visit for regular audit inspections. Being compliant and keeping up maintenance ensures your enclosure is safe for everyone.
